A hearing test at Stone’s is completely free — no cost and absolutely no obligation. Most people are surprised by how simple and comfortable it is. There’s nothing invasive, nothing painful, and it typically takes less than an hour from start to finish.

You’ll sit comfortably while Mark tests your hearing across a range of pitches and volumes. He’s been doing this for over 40 years, so he knows how to put you at ease — especially if it’s your first time. Many of our patients say they wish they had come in sooner.

After the test, Mark sits down with you and explains your results in plain language. No charts full of numbers you don’t understand. No sales pitch. If you need help, he’ll walk you through your options clearly and honestly. And if you don’t need a hearing aid? He’ll tell you that, too.

Step by Step

What Happens During a Hearing Test

There’s nothing to study for and no way to fail. Here’s what a typical visit looks like.

A Conversation

Mark starts by asking about your hearing — what situations give you trouble, what you’ve been noticing. This helps him understand what to look for.

The Hearing Test

You’ll wear comfortable headphones while a series of tones are played at different volumes and pitches. You simply respond when you hear something.

Results & Discussion

Mark walks you through your results right away, in plain English. He’ll explain what your hearing looks like and whether you’d benefit from any help.

Next Steps (If Needed)

If hearing aids would help, Mark explains your options — including pricing, technology, and what’s included. There’s never any pressure to decide on the spot.

“Every hearing loss is unique — it’s like a fingerprint. That’s why we never take a one-size-fits-all approach.”

Mark Shanta, BC-HIS
